Monarch butterfly Tour

Monarch butterfly Tour

Found 1976, thanks to research by Canadian scientist Fred Urquhart, the winter refuge of the monarch butterfly in central Mexico is a real wonder of nature. Declared a UNESCO protected natural site in 2008, it´s the green place where butterflies that leave Canada & the United States mountain areas in the fall come & hide in the woods of “El Rosario” sanctuary (Michoacan, Mexico), to hibernate from late November to February.
Enjoy walking downtown in a city listed as one of Mexico’s 35 UNESCO World Heritage Sites from 1991, to admire the local baroque style, that goes like a combination of Madrid-Rome in architecture.

Don’t miss the experience of climbing to one of the #7NaturalWonders of the world!!! As of February 20th 1943, the quiet green corn fields turned hot as Dionisio Pulido (the farmer) saw the smoke coming out of the ground. Months later, the ash rain was so hard in the area that destroyed homes & fields reaching over 300 kilometers around the crater.

“My wife and I, and our dear friends completed six delightful days with Alfredo de la Cruz touring Morelia & Patzcuaro, Michoacan. To see the monarchs we were escorted to the El Rosario Sanctuary, Alfredo’s experience and extensive local contacts, enabled us to moved at the monarchs with a minnimum of effort. The monarch experience was more that we have hoped for. Alfredo is resourceful, flexible, efficient and thoughtful. His knowledge of the area, past and present, is impressive. His restaurant selections produced a variety of Michoacan cuisine that satisfied and educated us all. Our experience with Alfredo has been exceptional and one we will remember with pleasure.”

We have had the pleasure of being in your hands Alfredo, for three full days in beautiful Michoacán. We had no expectations upon on arrival at the Morelia airport. With your capable direction, we came to see this place and its people trough your eyes. This is an experience we could never have on our own because we benefited entirely from your gentle informative description; sights, tastes, sounds & historical narrative created a vision of Michoacan, Pátzcuaro & Morelia that we will always have with us. This is a part of the rich mosaic of Mexico - a large part that has been part of our lifelong learning. Thank you for your sensitivity, courtesy and artistic eye for quality.

We have loved this trip in Morelia, Pátzcuaro & the drive to Guanajuato. Your knowledge about history, geography, politics, agriculture and art culture & religion is wonderful. And thank you for your really clear way of explaining everything to us. Maybe one day we will find the stolen LAS TARASCAS statue! We loved our trip to Tzintzuntzan.

You have made our visit to Michoacán both fun and information filled. We had a wonderful time with you. You went meet of your way to meet our needs and made sure we were happy -from adjusting the schedule and making special requests come true, to taking us to only the best crafts people of all different types of crafts that we had a special interest on, and not wasting our time with things that didn’t have our interest. Your special warmth added immensely to our enjoyment and we thank you so much for taking such care in showing us your part of the world.

Atentamente.

We took two tours with Alfredo during our stay in Morelia. The first was the Coco Tour and the second was the 3 Pueblos Mágicos. He really is the best you can find in Michoacán and we feel so fortunate that we connected with him. His tours are personable, full of history and cultural facts, and he will take you to find the best quality artesanías. This trip was really special for us, not only because it we got take part in how different towns celebrate Día de Muertos, but also because we came to Michoacán so that I could connect with the state where my family originally came from, and Alfredo was a big part of making that happen for me. Between seeing the catrinas of Capula, to eating carnitas in Quiroga, to hammering copper in Santa Clara del Cobre, we made some of our best memories thanks to Alfredo.
