Day of the Dead in Pátzcuaro NOV-1

Since the Lake Patzcuaro area has pre Columbian roots for the celebration, my tour is still going to witness this ritual in a different time of day, to small villages like Tzintzuntzan & Santa Fe where we can skip the crowds.

I start my tour in Patzcuaro (Departs from Morelia available) going to small towns to meet the indigenous culture and participate of the “offering” to the dead souls.

Timing makes all the difference that night, not only to avoid the crazy traffic but to get out of the chaos when alcohol ruins the celebration!

The cemeteries around Pátzcuaro area are the best locations to watch this celebration when families can be found gathering at the graveyards with candles, food, music, flowers, bread, cookies, candy, toys, pets, etc., with plans to stay there overnight! 

Stops at cemeteries on tour will include: 

– Huiramba; 

– Tzurumutaro; 

– Tzintzuntzan; 

– Santa Fe de la laguna; 

This is a guided Tour to visit cemeteries & homes where local families set up the “offering” to the dead souls in Michoacan.
